Last significant update:
A CV that looks right in the editor must also look right in the file you send. Do your final check on the saved PDF, not only on the screen. This checklist takes about five minutes and catches the problems that most often slip through.
Check your print settings
After you press the PDF button, choose “Save as PDF” as the destination and set the paper size to A4 (or Letter if you apply in a country that uses it). Turn off the browser’s headers and footers, and switch on background graphics if your template has colour. The names of these options vary between browsers, so look at the print preview and confirm that it matches what you saw in the editor.
Inspect the page breaks
Look at every page in the preview. Check that a heading does not sit at the bottom of one page while its text starts on the next, and that no entry is split awkwardly. Shorten long text if you need to. Do not make the text too small to read just to reduce the number of pages; a clear second page is better than an unreadable single page.
Re-read your contact details
Make sure the email address and phone number are correct, because a single wrong digit means the employer cannot reach you. Open your LinkedIn or portfolio address in a browser to confirm that it works. A link that looks fine in the preview may still lead nowhere, so test it before you send.
Open the file and name it clearly
Open the PDF you saved. Check special characters in names and places, line endings and your photo if you use one. Give the file a clear name such as First-Last-CV.pdf and keep it separate from draft versions so you never send the wrong one by mistake.
Follow the format the advert asks for
If the advert asks for another file type or a specific application method, follow that instruction. Being able to save a PDF does not mean every application system will read it the same way. If the system fills a form from your file, check each field before you submit.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the PDF button open a print window?
CvBix creates the PDF with your browser’s own “Save as PDF” option, which keeps your text selectable. Choose A4, turn off headers and footers and check the result after saving.
Can I send a Word file instead?
CvBix does not export Word documents at the moment. If an employer insists on Word, copy your text into your own editor and follow their instructions.
